Company history

HOCHSTAFFL NUTZFAHRZEUGE

Company milestones

Johann Hochstaffl founded Hochstaffl Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH in 1972, a trading company for new and used commercial vehicles of all kinds, with headquarters in Kundl in Tyrol, Austria. With the construction of a spacious commercial vehicle workshop and office building on an approx. 2.5 ha site and the acquisition of the general agency for the Kögel Fahrzeugwerke AG product range for Austria, the course was set for success at an early stage.

In 1977, the company’s premises were further expanded by the construction of a large warehouse. In the same year, the subsidiary Nutzfahrzeuge Leasing AG was founded, from which independent branches in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Romania emerged in the following years.

Inspired by the vision of a united Europe, the first contacts were made with neighbouring countries outside the EU as early as the 1980s. In 1989, Michael Hochstaffl (current Managing Director), joined the company. In 1990, a plot of land was purchased in Schleiz directly on the Berlin-Munich motorway and an office and workshop building was soon built there. In 1991, the company was taken over by Michael Hochstaffl.

This was followed by the opening of additional foreign branches in Croatia (1993), Slovakia (1995), Romania (2000) and in Marz/Austria 2004. In addition, the company became the general agent for the products of Kögel Fahrzeugwerke AG in six countries.

In 2014, the range of vehicles was extended by a dealership contract with Kässbohrer, in addition to the expansion of the range through various other dealership contracts.

In 2018, Marc Hochstaffl was the third generation to join the family business as workshop manager in Kundl.
